Skateboarder, then a walk-on, then a store manager — then the most feared name in Los Angeles summer basketball.
Born 23 January 1989 in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Watts. A 6′2″ guard out of Jordan High School.
Four colleges in four years: Irvine Valley, then Saddleback — where he was All-California Community College first team and Orange Empire Conference MVP — then Weber State, where he averaged 10.2 points and 6.0 rebounds alongside Damian Lillard and was named Big Sky Newcomer of the Year, and finally Cal State LA, where he put up 16.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and a conference-leading 2.6 steals and made first-team All-CCAA.
Professionally he has played in five countries. The best of it came abroad: NBL Canada Newcomer of the Year with the Island Storm in 2018, averaging a league-high 40 minutes a night; 22.8 points, 10.9 rebounds and 7.5 assists for Al-Gharafa in Qatar; then 24.2 points a game in Taiwan's Super Basketball League. He came back to Qatar and won the league, the Crown Prince Cup and the Emir Cup in a single 2021 season, and was named Qatar Player of the Year.
But he is famous for the summers. At the Drew League in South Central Los Angeles — running since 1973 — he has been MVP four times and won two championships, and has spent a decade taking NBA players' names in a high school gym.
He told me that's why he's in the league. I told him, ‘I don't care where you play. I'm about to show you this is my league.’
